The length of the handrail can be freely chosen between 10 cm and 450 cm. This makes it easy to realize both short wall sections and continuous stair runs. For round profiles, you can choose between different diameters: 35 mm, 40 mm, 42 mm, 45 mm and 50 mm. For square and oval profiles, we also offer a wide range of dimensions that integrate harmoniously into any room structure.

You can also choose the surface finish according to your needs:

• Raw – untreated, for individual finishing with oil, wax or varnish
• Oiled – emphasizes the natural structure, remains breathable and silky to the touch
• Lacquered – sealed, smooth and particularly easy to maintain

How is an oak handrail installed?

The installation of an oak handrail is usually carried out with wall brackets, which are screwed to the wall at the desired distance. Depending on the wall structure (concrete, brick, drywall), different anchor and screw systems are used. For standard applications, we recommend a bracket spacing of 80 to 100 cm. For particularly long or heavily used handrails, additional brackets should be used to avoid sagging.

Is oak also suitable for outdoor use?

Oak is one of the most robust domestic woods. It is naturally highly resistant to moisture, fungi and pests, making it significantly more durable than many other types of wood.

Our oak handrails are suitable for outdoor use. We also offer a special surface treatment for outdoor areas. This provides additional protection against moisture and UV exposure. With regular surface care, your handrail will remain dimensionally stable, visually appealing and long-lasting – even outdoors.

How to properly care for an oak handrail

The care of an oak handrail depends on the surface treatment. In general: oak is easy to maintain and robust – with minimal effort the material remains beautiful, resistant and pleasant to the touch for many years.

For cleaning, a slightly damp cloth is sufficient. For heavier soiling, a mild soap solution can be used. It is important not to use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents – these could damage the wood or the surface treatment.

Oiled handrails occasionally require re-treatment – outdoors about once a year. The oil protects the pores of the wood, refreshes the color and increases resistance to moisture and abrasion. Application is simple: the oil is applied with a soft cloth, allowed to soak in briefly and then polished.

Lacquered handrails require much less maintenance. The sealed surface is easy to clean and resistant to dirt and stains. If small scratches or dull spots appear, they can be locally repaired with a suitable clear varnish. Lacquered handrails are particularly recommended for areas with high usage – such as apartment buildings, medical practices or public buildings.

If you choose an untreated handrail, you can apply the final treatment yourself – entirely according to your taste. You can choose from:

• Wood oil – for a matte, breathable surface with a natural tone
• Hard wax oil – for more protection, silky shine and pleasant feel
• Clear varnish – for a sealed, abrasion-resistant and smooth surface

All of our raw handrails are already finely sanded when delivered. Before finishing, only the sanding dust needs to be removed. After that, the handrail is immediately ready for the desired surface treatment.
